Did I tell you I capsized last time I went sailing?
With a friend, his first time out. In a sudden storm. Much excitingness.
That was back in July, actually.
I’ve been meaning to get around to all that; but time, you know, slips by.
Details later.
Well Barry, it will be an interesting report. Have looked at your craft several times and wondered how they would recover from a capsize.
Spoiler alert: Barry recovered, a few personal possessions didn’t, melonseed prevailed, wife blissfully silent. (until now)
Hope the water was warm, at least. I just completed the sail for my melonseed design and opted for 65 sq ft instead of the 100 sq ft Dave talked me into.
Doryman, you can always go bigger later – there’ll be plenty of people to egg you on. It’s much harder to make yourself go smaller, as there’s no cheering section for that direction.
I’m happy to hear that both you and the boat are okay and I can’t wait for the story! I’ve read that melonseeds handle weather very well so I’m quite interested in how much it takes to capsize one. Did you broach or was it an out and out knockdown? Anyway, the details will be great to hear.
Not a broach, more a death-roll/knockdown combo. Heading off for a few days of sailing and camping in the morning. Will have much to catch up on when I get back.
